I work inside a Japanese manufacturing company on digital transformation and process improvement, and in HR and recruiting operations. Both sides feed the services I sell here. What that means in practice: Process audits. I map how work actually moves through a Japanese organisation: who approves what, where paper still exists, which steps survive only because nobody has questioned them. I rank what is worth automating and, just as important, what should be left alone. Automation design. Power Automate and AI tools, scoped so a small internal team can run them after I hand over. I write the design document. I do not need access to your systems to do it. HR and recruiting operations. Applicant handling, interview scheduling, offer documentation, onboarding material. This is where most of the repetitive work in a Japanese company hides. It is also where I learned how Japanese business writing has to read before anyone will sign it. Documents that survive contact with a Japanese organisation. Decks that go to management, SOPs people actually follow, training material. In Japan, a good idea presented badly does not get approved. Why this matters if you are outside Japan: I am not describing Japanese business culture from the outside. I write the documents, I sit in the approval chain, and I see which wording gets a yes and which gets sent back for rework.
