Acerca de este Servicio

A mechanism is judged at its extreme positions, not in its rest pose.

WHAT I DESIGN

- Mechanisms: linkages, cams, quick-release, locking and indexing devices

- Machine parts and frames, sheet metal, weldments, machined components

- Gear trains, shafts, bearing seats and drivetrain components

- Assemblies with bills of materials and revision indexes

STRUCTURAL CHECK

I validate by finite element analysis and check the result against hand calculation. A mesh convergence study decides the number I report, never a single run: a real stress concentration converges as the mesh refines, a numerical singularity does not. A peak stress quoted without saying where it was read is not a result.

HOW I WORK

1. I confirm the loads, the duty cycle, the material and the process before modelling.

2. I design to the load path and to the manufacturing method, not the prettiest shape.

3. I deliver native files, drawings, and a note on the choices I made.

TOLERANCING

Drawings are toleranced to ISO 1101, ISO 2768 and ISO 286. A dimension without a tolerance is a dimension the workshop decides for you.

DELIVERY

Native SOLIDWORKS files plus PDF, STEP, DXF and STL.

Gearbox, mechanism and machine design in CATIA V5 and SOLIDWORKS

I design gearboxes, mechanisms and machine parts in CATIA V5 and SOLIDWORKS, through to production drawings. Spur, helical and bevel gear sets, shafts and bearing seats, linkages and cams, weldments and sheet metal, with drawings toleranced to ISO 1101, ISO 2768 and ISO 286. I validate structures by FEA and check the result against hand calculation. A mesh convergence study decides the number I report, never a single run. Before I quote I ask what decides the job: ratio, loads, standard, units, format, release. That is what keeps a correct delivery from being rejected over a detail.
