Just bought a VPS from Hetzner, OVH, DigitalOcean, Contabo, or another provider? Don't leave it wide open on the internet. I'll configure it properly, secure it, and hand it back production-ready.
What I do on every VPS:
Fresh OS setup (Ubuntu 22.04 / 24.04 LTS or Debian 12 / 13)
All packages updated to latest secure versions
Non-root user with sudo + SSH key authentication
SSH hardened: no root login, no password auth
UFW firewall (only needed ports open)
Fail2Ban tuned for SSH and web services
Automatic security updates
Proper hostname, timezone, swap file
Optional add-ons (Standard / Premium):
Nginx reverse proxy + Let's Encrypt SSL
Docker + Docker Compose
MariaDB or PostgreSQL database
Automated backup script (S3, FTP, rsync)
CrowdSec advanced threat protection

Which VPS providers do you support?
All of them. I've worked with Hetzner, OVH, Scaleway, DigitalOcean, Contabo, Vultr, Linode, AWS Lightsail, Azure VMs, and Google Cloud VMs. If it runs Ubuntu or Debian, I can configure it.
Do you need my root password?
I need SSH access to your VPS to configure it. Ideally you create a temporary user with sudo access and give me the SSH key. After the job, you revoke my access — I show you how in the documentation. I never store credentials.
Can you install a specific application after setup?
Basic install of common stacks (LAMP, LEMP, MEAN, Docker apps) is possible as an add-on. For complex applications (custom deployments, migrations, tuning), please order a dedicated gig.
Do you provide ongoing maintenance?
Not through this gig. If you need monthly updates, security patches, and monitoring, I offer a separate maintenance package on request.
What about Windows Server VPS?
This gig covers Linux only. Contact me if you need Windows Server setup — I do it professionally but it's a separate offer.
Will my server really be secure?
This gig gives you a solid baseline that stops 99% of automated attacks (SSH brute force, script kiddies, mass scanners). For production servers handling sensitive data, additional measures like WAF, IDS, security audits, and compliance certifications may be needed — happy to discuss.
