Acerca de este Servicio
Is your business relying on an old MS Access database that is slowing down, crashing, reaching its size limits, or corrupting data?
I specialize in upsizing and modernizing legacy database systems. I will safely extract your historical data, redesign your backend schema for modern performance, and migrate your data to SQL Server or PostgreSQLwithout losing your core business logic or operational history.
Whether you need to keep your MS Access file as a frontend interface connected to a powerful cloud/server backend, or fully transition off Access entirely, I provide a structured, audit-ready migration.
What This Gig Covers:
- Database & Schema Assessment: Inventorying tables, relationships, indexes, and primary keys.
- Data Cleanup & Extraction: Resolving data type mismatches, missing keys, and invalid records.
- Backend Modernization: Creating optimized tables and views in SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
- Upsizing & Data Transfer: Safe execution of data migration with full row-count verification.
- Frontend Linking (Optional): Re-linking your existing MS Access forms/reports to the new backend server so your daily workflow continues uninterrupted.

FAQ
Will this migration break my current MS Access forms, queries, or reports?
No. This service focuses on upsizing and modernizing your backend database. Your frontend forms and reports remain linked to the new server database using ODBC, allowing your team to continue working as usual.
Why should I upsize my MS Access database to PostgreSQL or SQL Server?
Upsizing eliminates file corruption risks, removes the 2GB size limit, allows dozens of concurrent users without slowdowns, and enables enterprise-level automated backups and security.
Do you fix or rewrite broken VBA code or Access forms?
This Gig covers backend database architecture, table migration, and schema translation. Frontend form redesigns, report fixes, or custom VBA troubleshooting require a separate custom quote.
What do I need to provide before we begin?
I will need an exclusive copy of your .mdb or .accdb file (or backend data file), along with any credentials or target server access details if we are deploying directly to your environment.
How do you handle non-standard data types like Attachment fields or OLE Objects?
Legacy Access attachment and binary fields are mapped to appropriate target data types (such as BYTEA or TEXT/BLOB paths) to ensure data is preserved without corrupting the new schema.
Will there be downtime for my team during the migration?
Migration and testing are done on a staging copy. Final cutover only requires a brief scheduled window (often <15 minutes) to sync the latest data and update your linked tables.
