Worked with the CSR Team at SMK Mingaladon Co., Ltd. over a two-year period, gaining sustained practical experience in Corporate Social Responsibility, sustainability, labor rights, ESG, and workplace health and safety. - Conducted ongoing research and analysis of SMK’s company background, business principles, market and customers, products and services, sustainability initiatives, and CSR practices. - Continued studying human and labor rights in Myanmar, international labor standards, and human-rights and environmental due diligence, applying these frameworks to workplace practices. - Participated in regular meetings and discussions with Worker Committee (WCC) members, observing and evaluating employee grievance, suggestion, and communication mechanisms. - Supported ongoing preparation for HIGG audits and related workplace initiatives, including first-aid training, volunteer coordination, employee engagement, and daily company orientation. - Conducted and followed up on workplace observations concerning health and safety, including risk assessments, PPE use, chemical handling, emergency procedures, restricted areas, and waste separation. - Monitored workplace practices and identified areas for improvement in labor-rights compliance, worker awareness, health and safety, and CSR implementation. - Developed and refined recommendations based on observations and research, including measures to strengthen labor-rights compliance, workplace safety, employee awareness, and sustainability practices. - Explored the potential application of solar energy to Myanmar manufacturing operations, considering its relevance to sustainability and the company's long-term energy needs. - Worked across multiple CSR-related activities over the course of the placement, building familiarity with the company's operational practices and the practical implementation of ESG and sustainability principles.
