Working for a Member of Parliament I built and executed an ongoing communications strategy that spaned residents and citizen groups through regional news outlets to national and international media. I led on political and campaign strategy for the MP including running both his successful election campaigns to chair the Business and Trade Committee and his General Election Campaign. Other duties included: • Acting as liaison with journalists/news outlets - invariably to tight deadlines. • Assisting the MP to influence the Government agenda, such leading on the successful work to reform SLAPP laws. • Developing proactive and reactive communications releases for national and local media. • Strategic support to the MP on policy work, particularly in his role leading multiple All Party Parliamentary Groups. • Overseeing and curating all digital output including producing online graphics and video content. • Engaging with local community groups to proactively address local and national issues. • Managing teams of staff in the events, communications, and digital functions.
