- Designed an implemented transactions service for ANZ Plus app, which was designed to support 3000+ bank transactions per second coming from core banking systems. - Designed the architecture for transactions services, developing/maintaining the services, communicating with stakeholders to ensure that we are building relevant and reliable services while making sure our APIs are ready for multiple tenants like ANZ Plus app, open banking, etc. - Implemented bi-directional streaming API to sync transactions with mobile and our service. We used multiple types of messages to be sent to mobile on a single stream using goroutines and stored the acknowledgement from the app to make sure all the transactions are received by the mobile app at least once. - Designed database schema using transactions services, and wrote SQL queries to be optimised for our service, making sure that we are leveraging Cloud Spanner’s inbuilt interleaved tables and following best practices to take full advantage of Cloud Spanner performance. - Implemented monitoring/tracing using CNCF projects like opentracing/openmetrics (now combined into opentelemetry), defining CRDs to deploy transactions services to kubernetes and containerised the transactions services. - Engaged with different stakeholders like the mobile team’s engineers and product owner to discuss the gRPC API proposals while also making sure that we are not designing our APIs just to favour mobile integration and keeping it more generic to be integrated with something like openbanking. - Maintained high level of test coverage, built/maintained integration tests and end to end tests for our service. - Integrated with external services like *Look who’s charging*, which enriches the transaction details with things like merchant details, merchant addresses, location coordinates etc. aAlso integrated with their webhook which was responsible for updating merchant’s details in future.
