n May 2024, I was advised that my role within the company was to be made redundant. During the redundancy period, I was approached by one of our internal managers with an opportunity that had come up within her team, which I accepted. The role was something that I had not been involved with before, but I was keen to take on a new challenge and gain experience in a different role. The new role was Terminal Operations Assistant and this role involved but was not limited to: ● Assisting the Head of Terminals in managing the allocation of HVO across our range of terminals and supply locations ● Processing stock movements and reconciling all liftings from the previous day ● Ensuring contractual lifting obligations are met, where required ● Providing a range of reports to assist the Head of Terminals with presentations I have learnt a lot of new skills and taken on a lot of new information in the short period I have been in this role, which I can take into any future roles.

In October 2023, GBF went into administration and this was a particularly challenging time for the employees. During this period, we all worked together to provide information that was requested by the administrators. This demonstrated our resilience and ability to work well as a team. It was my responsibility to work closely and quickly with a small group of the administrators to show them how the accounts payable side of the business worked. This provided them with the detail they needed to ensure the business carried on running as smoothly as possible, and we could maintain the strong relationships with our suppliers. The company was subsequently purchased in November 2023 by Certas Energy, and there was a lot of uncertainty as to what direction they would take the business. I was made aware that my role would be changing in the near future and I would be looking at more of a reporting and forecasting aspect for the company. I was tasked with supplying a range of information to our new owners, to help the business see where it would be possible to improve or cut any unnecessary costs.

A year after joining the company, I was promoted in order to take on more responsibility. My new role provided me with the chance to work closely with our Financial Director to create an accurate and detailed cash flow forecast for the business over an 8 week running period. I was also involved closely with our investors in reconciling actions from the previous week. This provided me with the chance to complete some more important tasks, whilst also helping further progress myself within the business.
