My time as a Sitar teacher at Lotus Valley International School, Noida, was a deeply rewarding journey of music, learning, and community building. I had the opportunity to transform the way Sitar was taught and experienced within the school, starting with just 4 students and growing the programme to more than 300 students by the end of my tenure. Beyond teaching, I was actively involved in the school’s cultural and musical programmes. I composed, arranged, and organised 8 large-scale orchestras for various school events, all of which were received with great enthusiasm and appreciation from parents, students, and colleagues. These experiences allowed me to bring together students with different levels of musical ability and create performances that were both musically enriching and memorable. Equally important to me was the wonderful work environment at Lotus Valley. I always believed that music education thrives in an atmosphere of collaboration, respect, and inclusivity. I made a conscious effort to encourage an all-inclusive and supportive approach among colleagues, contributing to a positive workplace where everyone felt valued and encouraged to share their ideas. Looking back, my tenure at Lotus Valley was much more than a teaching experience. It was an opportunity to build a thriving Sitar programme, inspire hundreds of young learners, create meaningful musical experiences, and contribute to a collaborative school community—an experience I will always value.
