I worked as an online IELTS tutor teaching Indonesian students who were preparing for their IELTS exams. I handled all four sections of the test: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Since classes were fully online, I focused on making lessons interactive, clear, and structured so students could stay engaged and confident. Most of my time was spent guiding students through Writing Task 1 and Task 2. I broke down essay structure step by step, explained how to meet the band descriptors, and gave detailed, practical feedback they could immediately apply. Instead of just correcting grammar, I helped students understand why something needed improvement and how to strengthen their ideas. For Speaking, I conducted mock interviews and helped students organize their answers more naturally. We worked on fluency, confidence, and clarity. Many students initially struggled with nervousness, so building their confidence was just as important as improving language accuracy. In Reading and Listening, I taught practical strategies like skimming, scanning, time management, and error analysis. I also created small diagnostic exercises to identify weak areas early. This role strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts simply, adapt to different student levels, and give feedback that was honest but encouraging. More than just helping students pass a test, I aimed to improve their academic English and self-confidence.
