During my internship as a PCB Design Intern at AvantLabs, I was responsible for taking hardware concepts through the complete development lifecycle, from schematic capture to physical board bring-up. A key highlight of my work was designing, prototyping, and testing a custom USB-UART to RS-422 interface converter engineered for long-distance, noise-immune data transfer. I selected critical components—including USB-to-UART bridge ICs, RS-422 differential transceivers, ESD protection, and power regulation modules—and drafted optimized PCB layouts focusing on differential pair routing, impedance matching, and decoupling strategy to minimize electromagnetic interference. Additionally, I handled manual SMD component assembly, conducted power stability checks, and verified differential signal integrity using digital oscilloscopes to deliver a fully validated hardware prototype.
