A logline and synopsis are key documents that not only help you promote your work, but help you develop your story. When you condense it into a concise summary, the plot points, twists and character developments sell it fast. It may possibly reveal underlying issues as well, which helps you improve yourself.

If you've yet to write a story, a logline and synopsis both help you set it up in an invaluable way. The alternative is going into the writing process more blind than you'd want, which will make it messier and less fulfilling. Give your story legs before you ask it to run.

But if you're done, a logline and synopsis are weapons of promotion that doesn't ask people for much time, yet ends up with them asking for more.
