Having an alpha reader during/after the first draft helps ensure the manuscript doesn't have major issues. Some writers will rush to complete a book only to be discouraged when their editor says major changes are needed before publishing. An alpha read helps avoid this by catching mistakes early!

Alpha reading mainly focuses on plot, writing style, and execution, done (usually) during or immediately following the first draft. This helps your writing improve as you go and promises a cleaner draft. Beta reading typically focuses more on the reader experience and expectations within the genre.

My Alpha Reading is similar to receiving line edits and developmental editing all-in-one. The difference is that I focus my feedback around highlighting the most important suggestions I have to improve a manuscript as a whole. I also focus heavily on providing writing advice to help writers learn.
