Built and scaled the entire backend infrastructure for a startup marketplace connecting African clients with local service providers, similar to TaskRabbit. What I Did Designed and developed the full backend architecture of a service marketplace platform from the ground up, handling everything from authentication to real-time communication and payments. REST API Development — Architected clean, scalable REST APIs using Go/Echo to power all client-server interactions across the platform Auth & User Management — Implemented secure user registration, login, role-based access control (client vs. tasker), and session management Booking System — Built a full service booking engine with scheduling logic, status tracking, and provider availability management Calendar Integration — Developed a calendar system for taskers to manage availability and appointments in real time Real-time Features — Engineered WebSocket-powered live updates for booking status, notifications, and platform activity In-app Chat — Built a real-time messaging system between clients and service providers Audio Calls — Integrated in-app audio calling functionality for client-tasker communication Payment Integration — Integrated Paystack for seamless African payment processing including card, bank transfer, and mobile money Escrow System — Designed a secure escrow payment flow to hold funds until job completion, building trust on both sides of the marketplace Profile Sharing — Built shareable tasker profile links for marketing and referral purposes Search Engine — Developed a service and provider search system with filters for location, category, rating, and availability Analytics Dashboard — Created a backend data pipeline and dashboard for tracking platform metrics, user activity, and transaction volumes Database Design — Designed and managed relational schemas using PostgreSQL for all core platform data
