I am a dedicated professional session musician, arranger, and producer with a wide range of styles. From playing in respected jazz clubs and festivals to orchestras in Germany, Japan, and the US, I've also always enjoyed playing alongside talented singer-songwriters in cozy bars.

With two decades of professional music experience and holding both bachelor's and master's degrees in music (University of Michigan '15, Berklee College of Music '18), I offer my violin melodies and harmonies to fulfill your musical vision. My instrument is a 1914 William E. Hill violin from London. Its warm tone and full-bodied presence lends nicely to any mix :)

Hi there! I'm a Berlin-based musician with 20 years experience performing, arranging, and recording strings. A classically trained violinist specializing in jazz and folk, I collaborate with singer-songwriters and beatmakers across Europe and the US. FAQ
Can you send me a demo before I place an order?
Unfortunately not. Sending a personalized demo takes quite a bit of setup and time, even if it's just for 30 seconds. If you'd like to hear some examples of my playing, you can hear my own music as well as varying styles of collaborations on Spotify (Davis West) or instagram (@west.davis)!
What's the best way to refer to the song's sections?
Generally, I prefer if we can refer to the song's sections with minutes:seconds rather than "verse 3 / prechorus" or "measure 46" - so if you can translate the location to a timestamp, that'd help me to get closer to your vision and save time in the long run :)
What do you mean by timestamps?
Often I get requests to just "play" - while this is totally fine, since the rate is calculated by number of seconds, I want to make sure that you get the best deal. If you only need violin for verse 2 and chorus for example, let me know that you need 1:12-1:45 and 2:30 to the end.
Do you need sheet music to play on my project?
No - I'd be happy to record for you with or without sheet music! I love playing with singer songwriters, and one of my favorite things to do is to improvised accompaniment. Feel free to send over demos even just for a brainstorming consultation.
Are you able to read sheet music?
Yup! No problem whatsoever. I have plenty of classical and orchestral experience, where sightreading sheet music is a must. Feel free to send over any sheet music you've got and I can tell you how possible or violinistic it is!
How can I expedite the process?
The thing that helps me the most by far is when a client can tell me: "I want fills from 0:23-0:58, pads from 1:34-2:01, a solo from 3:32-3:58 and back to fills from 4:13 to the end" Of course all projects are different. BUT! The closer you can get to this format, the better.
