Malik Hassale had recently launched a mobile app and had thousands of downloads, but very little understanding of why so many users stopped using it after the first week. I designed an in-app survey targeting users at the drop-off point, structuring the questions to uncover specific friction points without overwhelming users mid-session. Once responses came in, I organized the data into clear categories, highlighting the exact features and moments causing users to leave. Using those insights, Malik was able to prioritize the fixes that mattered most, and his week-one retention improved noticeably in the following updates. He finally had a clear roadmap instead of guessing which features to fix first.
