I can teach you the basics of programming through the Python language. This knowledge can then be used to learn advanced programming in Python and also to help you learn other programming languages much faster.


The things we will cover:

  • Data types and classes
  • If statements
  • Loops
  • Try and excepts
  • Functions and definitions
  • Solving problems
  • Writing simple scripts


How am I different as a tutor? My approach to teaching is minimal involvement and using the student's intuition to guide them to the answers. I dislike memorizing functions and classes. These things are a google search away. I focus on teaching the student to start thinking like a programmer.

Teaching you how to think like a programmer is much more about learning how to approach problems and break them down into manageable chunks than it is about memorizing code. A good programmer can solve a problem in a language he is not even very familiar with. After I teach you the basics we go through simple exercises where we practice using the Python language to solve problems and write small automation scripts. It's actually really fun!
