I do developmental editing, the structural pass that happens before line editing, where we fix plot logic, pacing, and character arcs instead of commas. I've been doing this for 6 years, and most of what I take on is fiction where the draft is finished but something's not working and the author can't quite name what. I read the whole manuscript first, then send a structural report before touching a single sentence, so you know what you're paying for before it starts.
