My work as a vocalist has always started with understanding the song before recording anything. I usually begin by listening closely to the instrumental, lyrics, and overall direction to understand what the song is trying to say and how the vocal should feel. From there, I explore melodies, phrasing, tone, and delivery until I find an approach that feels natural to the music. Depending on the project, this can mean creating a topline from an instrumental, shaping an existing melody, recording lead vocals, adding harmonies, or bringing a completely different vocal character to the song. I’ve had the opportunity to work across different styles, including R&B, Rap, Country, Pop, EDM, and other contemporary sounds. Each project has taught me something different, especially about adapting my voice while still keeping the performance honest and personal. For me, recording is not simply about singing the notes correctly. It’s about understanding the emotion behind the song and making the vocal feel like it truly belongs there. That process of taking an idea from its early stage and hearing it become a finished performance is one of the things I enjoy most about working in music.
