I will edit your documentary and archive based long form video

Acerca de este Servicio
Most of a documentary edit is decided before the first cut. Which material is real, which is usable, and what order it has to go in.
My last one was assembled almost entirely from archive footage covering several decades. Different sources, different frame rates, a lot of it surviving only in bad copies. Weeks went into tracking material down and restoring it before I touched the timeline. It ended at 31.58K views and 3.39K likes on a channel of 96.8K subscribers.
That is the part that decides whether a documentary works. Anyone can assemble a sequence. Knowing that a shot is worth ten more seconds, or that a section has to go entirely even though it took a week to find, is different.
Bring me footage and tell me what the film is meant to say. If the material will not carry that story, you will hear it from me at the start, not at delivery.
Depending on package: structuring and assembly, colour and quality matching across eras, restoration of damaged footage, sound design, narration pacing and on-screen titles.
Premiere Pro and Audition. I work with motion graphics in Premiere but do not design them from scratch. Complex animation needs a motion designer.

FAQ
Do you find archive footage yourself?
On the Premium package, yes. That is most of what the work is. On Basic and Standard I edit what you send.
What if my footage is low quality or from very old sources?
Normal for this kind of film. Restoration and matching material across different eras and frame rates is included on Premium and handled case by case on Standard.
Do you do motion graphics and animation?
I work with motion graphics in Premiere - titles, lower thirds, movement, and integrating graphics you supply. What I do not do is design complex animation from scratch. If your film depends on that, you want a motion designer.
How long does a documentary edit usually take?
A 17 minute film is about ten days. If archive research is involved, budget the full time. I would rather quote honestly than miss a date.
Do you include subtitles?
Not as standard on long-form. Subtitling a full documentary line by line is a large job on its own, so I quote it separately rather than bury it in the package price. Ask me and I will price it for your runtime.
