I help businesses and individuals lock down their networks with properly configured firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
What I do:
- Configure and tune Suricata (IDS/IPS mode) with custom rule sets for your traffic
- Set up and harden firewalls (pfSense, iptables/nftables, UFW, Windows Firewall, or cloud security groups)
- Write and tune detection rules to cut false positives while catching real threats
- Segment networks and lock down unnecessary open ports/services
- Set up logging and alerting (e.g., to Zeek, ELK, or Syslog) so you actually see what Suricata catches
- Document the config so your team can maintain it after I'm done
Important: I only work on infrastructure you own or are explicitly authorized to configure. This protects both of us and keeps the work legitimate.

Do you configure Suricata specifically, or just generic firewalls?
Both. I can deploy Suricata in IDS (detection only) or IPS (active blocking) mode, tune rule sets to your traffic, and pair it with a properly configured firewall so detection and blocking work together.
Will this slow down my network?
I tune rule sets and hardware/VM resources to minimize performance impact, and I'll flag any tradeoffs before making changes.
Do you need admin/root access?
Yes, for firewall and Suricata setup I'll need admin-level or root access to the target system(s), granted only after you confirm ownership/authorization.
