Relationship Manager - Private Banking & American Express
Nov 2015 - Nov 2025 • 10 yrs
At Nations Trust Bank, I worked as a Relationship Manager for Private Banking and American Express Explorer Credit Cards, managing a portfolio of high-value clients with complex financial needs and high expectations for service. My role centered on building long-term relationships rather than one-off transactions. I took the time to understand each client's needs in depth, structured banking and card solutions around those needs, and stayed closely engaged with clients well beyond the point of sale — checking in proactively, anticipating issues before they became complaints, and making sure clients felt genuinely looked after rather than just serviced. A significant part of the role involved handling complex or sensitive service issues personally, rather than escalating them elsewhere. Demanding, high-value clients don't respond well to generic processes, so I learned to resolve problems quickly, communicate clearly under pressure, and protect the relationship even when something had gone wrong. I also worked on cross-selling relevant banking and card products where they genuinely fit a client's situation, balancing the bank's commercial goals with what was actually right for the client — an approach that consistently built trust and long-term loyalty rather than short-term sales. This role shaped how I think about client relationships in any business: that retention and loyalty come from consistent, personal attention and follow-through, not from any single transaction. That's the foundation I now bring to helping other businesses build the same kind of client experience.
Customer Service Officer
Oct 2009 - Nov 2015 • 6 yrs 1 mo
At SCB, I began my career in a customer-facing call center role, handling a high volume of customer inquiries, requests, and complaints daily. This was where I built the foundation of everything I do now — staying calm and clear under pressure, listening carefully to understand what a customer actually needed rather than just what they were asking for, and resolving issues on the first contact wherever possible. After building that frontline experience, I moved into a service quality role, where my focus shifted from handling individual customer interactions to improving the systems behind them. I analyzed recurring complaint patterns and service breakdowns, identified where processes were failing customers, and worked with different departments to fix root causes rather than just symptoms. This role also involved helping define and monitor service standards across customer touchpoints, so that the quality of a customer's experience didn't depend on which representative they happened to speak to. I looked at complaint data, escalation trends, and customer feedback to spot patterns individual staff on the frontline couldn't see, and translated those insights into practical process changes. Together, these roles gave me a ground-up understanding of customer experience — from the exact moment a customer calls in frustrated, to the structural reasons a business keeps generating that same frustration in the first place. That dual perspective, on both the individual interaction and the underlying system, is central to how I approach customer experience and service strategy work today.
