My position at Loadsmart involved navigating the legal complexities created when freight transportation and digital technology operate within the same commercial ecosystem. I supported the business on matters affecting brokers, carriers, shippers, technology partners, and enterprise customers, with an emphasis on preserving Loadsmart’s rights throughout transportation transactions. Rather than limiting my involvement to traditional contract review, I examined how operational practices could create liability. Cargo loss, damaged shipments, delayed delivery, carrier performance, freight charges, insurance coverage, payment disputes, and allocation of transportation responsibility regularly formed part of my legal analysis. Technology presented another dimension of my practice. I addressed questions involving platform access, ownership of logistics data, software licensing, confidentiality, cybersecurity responsibilities, electronic transactions, and permissible use of commercially sensitive information. I also interpreted transportation rules affecting brokerage activities, interstate freight movements, carrier qualification, recordkeeping, and commercial practices. Where a claim or disagreement developed, I reconstructed the transaction from shipping records, communications, contractual terms, and available evidence before advising on recovery, defense, settlement, or enforcement options. Through this work, I helped Loadsmart maintain stronger legal control over freight relationships, improve claims handling, protect valuable technology and data interests, and establish clearer accountability across its digitally managed transportation network.
