National Health Laboratory Service I was appointed as the first Secretary in the Northern Cape Regional Office, where I played a foundational role in establishing and structuring administrative systems for the region. With no formal on-the-job training, I independently developed processes, reporting structures, and communication workflows to ensure operational efficiency. The Regional Office oversaw multiple laboratories across the Northern Cape, including facilities in: Kimberley Upington Springbok Kuruman De Aar I coordinated regional reporting, executive correspondence, meeting documentation, and administrative support for multiple operational units. Key Responsibilities & Achievements: Established administrative systems from the ground up. Managed regional reporting and high-level correspondence. Coordinated multi-site communication across laboratories. Prepared and formatted professional meeting minutes and documentation. Operated independently with strong initiative and problem-solving skills. Ensured compliance with internal governance and reporting standards. I later transferred to the Academic Business Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital, which operates in conjunction with the NHLS unit at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital. As Red Cross reports directly to Groote Schuur, I provide executive-level secretarial support to both Business Units simultaneously. This dual role requires exceptional organizational skills, confidentiality, and the ability to manage parallel reporting structures in a high-pressure academic and healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities & Achievements: Serve as Secretary to two integrated Business Units. Compile and distribute executive-level meeting minutes (MANCO, strategic, and operational meetings). Manage sensitive academic and clinical documentation. Coordinate communication between hospital management, laboratory leadership, and external stakeholders. Support senior management in an academic healthcare environment.
