Over 25 years of full-time SQL Server development experience (20+ working for Microsoft). I've written over 8 million lines of TSQL code and have developed enterprise solutions for Microsoft (internal), US Government, Department of Defense, as well as many other industries.
My design philosophy:
I believe if a database has the right architecture and design, you don't necessarily have to redesign your database as the business needs grow. A good design allows for growth and evolution as your business needs evolve.
I have a strong metadata philosophy so that one piece of code (like a stored procedure) can do more than one thing depending on the metadata available to the code.

Do you still work for Microsoft?
Retiring after 21 years of full-time employment from Microsoft in September 2022, but continue to pursue my passion writing TSQL code and solving business problems with SQL database solutions.
What technologies do you work with?
I'm kind of a one-trick pony. I can read and work with a few different languages like PowerShell, C#, Visual Basic, Java, etc, but my true expertise is with Transact SQL (TSQL) on SQL Server. If you need a full stack developer, I'm not your guy! If you need a SQL database solution, look no further!
What versions of SQL Server do you work with?
I have experience with every version of SQL Server going back to SQL Server 6.5 (1996) I work with all on-prem versions of SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012 ,2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 (and even SQL 2022) Cloud versions: Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Manage Instance.
SQL Server is a large platform, what is your specialty?
ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) and generic metadata driven functionality is my expertise. At Microsoft I was responsible for SQL Audit (On-prem and Azure) as well as EKM (Extensible Key Management) - which is a feature that allows you to encrypt an on-prem database (using TDE) with Azure Key Vault.

After doing so, he took extensive time to demonstrate to me (who has never worked with databases before) how I change and access the database going forward without his assistance....
