I exist in the gap between Eastern and Western aesthetics. I am Noah Wilson, an oil painter who is deeply fascinated by Japanese ukiyo-e art and modern anime aesthetics. With the graphic composition thinking of craft design, I eliminate the realistic volumetric sense of oil paintings and instead pursue the rhythm of lines and the decorative nature of flat painting. I combined linen fabric, oil paints, woodblock prints, logic and fluorescent colors to create portrait works that combine Eastern charm, popular culture and flat aesthetic. My paintings have no shadows; there are only the symphony of outlines and color blocks.
